About Us

Frequently Asked Questions

Is NJS Law SRA regulated?

Yes. NJS Law (NJS Law Ltd) is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority under SRA number 8006550. The firm also holds Law Society Personal Injury Panel accreditation — awarded only to firms meeting the highest defined standards of competence and client care in personal injury law.

For most personal injury, road traffic accident, clinical negligence, housing disrepair, and criminal injury claims, NJS Law operates on a no win, no fee basis — meaning you pay nothing upfront and nothing at all if your claim is unsuccessful. If your claim succeeds, a success fee is deducted from your compensation. For will disputes and contentious probate, transparent fixed-fee and staged-fee arrangements apply.

If your claim is unsuccessful, you won’t pay our fees. A no win, no fee agreement is designed to remove the financial risk of bringing a claim, so you can pursue your case with confidence. We’ll always explain how the agreement works, including any insurance that may cover other costs, before you commit to anything.

NJS Law handles personal injury claims, road traffic accident claims, clinical and dental negligence claims, serious injury claims, criminal injury compensation (CICA), housing disrepair claims for council and housing association tenants, and will disputes and contentious probate across England and Wales.

Every claim is different, and the amount depends on factors such as the severity of your injury, your financial losses, ongoing care or treatment needs, and the long-term impact on your life. We can’t promise a specific figure, but once we’ve assessed your case we’ll give you a realistic idea of what your claim may be worth.

It depends on the complexity of your case. Straightforward claims can settle within a few months, while more complex matters — such as serious injury, medical negligence or will disputes — can take considerably longer. We work to progress every case as efficiently as possible and keep you updated at each stage.

Most claims are settled without the need for a court hearing. Only a small proportion proceed to trial, usually where liability or the level of compensation is disputed. If your case does go to court, your solicitor will represent and support you throughout.

Yes. If you’re unhappy with your current solicitor or simply want a second opinion, you can usually transfer your claim to us. The process is often more straightforward than people expect, and we’ll guide you through it and liaise with your previous firm where needed.

NJS Law handles claims for clients across England and Wales. The firm is based at St George Chambers, Macclesfield, but takes on cases nationwide. All consultations can be conducted by telephone or online, so location is no barrier to getting expert legal advice.

Nottingham Maternity Scandal: Ockenden Report Birth Negligence Claims

Today the findings of the largest maternity review in the history of the NHS were published, and they make for harrowing reading. The independent inquiry led by Donna Ockenden into maternity services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust examined around 2,500 cases and concluded that 520 mothers and babies suffered potentially avoidable harm, with 162 of them dying after experiencing substandard care. Of those deaths, 156 were children and six were mothers, and the review found they could have been avoided with better care.
The primary legislation governing the safety of work equipment in England and Wales is the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER). If your employer breached PUWER and you were injured as a result, you are entitled to claim compensation.
