
Rear-End Collision Claims — Who Is at Fault?
In the vast majority of rear-end collision claims, the driver who hit the back of the vehicle in front is at fault. This is because every driver in the UK has a legal duty under Highway Code Rule 126 to maintain a safe stopping distance — enough space to pull up safely if the vehicle ahead brakes suddenly. When that duty is breached and a collision results, the following driver is generally liable.
