Melissa Clowes is a Legal Assistant at NJS Law and has worked within NJS Law since 2022.
She began her career with us as a member of the admin team, gaining valuable experience in her customer facing role before being selected to assist the HDR team. She has since embraced the role fully in supporting clients who are suffering difficult times with their living conditions, often affecting their physical and mental health.
Melissa quickly progressed in her current role; immersing herself in progressing cases in the pre-litigation stage and assisting our dedicated Housing Disrepair Solicitor in negotiating a settlement or preparing for Court proceedings to be issued. In addition, she has gained valuable experience in assisting on litigated matters.
Her client-focused approach have allowed her to empathise with clients and assist them in resolving the issues they face. This has often required her to breakdown complex legal procedures for clients to understand how their claim will progress and what they need to provide by way of evidence.
Liked by colleagues and clients alike, Melissa has also developed a strong working relationship with the Barristers we often instruct when necessary.
Melissa has a degree in Policing, Law and Investigation and hopes to continue her development with NJS Law by running her own case load applying the experience she has gained so far to continue the fight for tenant’s rights to live in properties that are not in disrepair.
Known for her sympathetic and relentless approach to delivering an efficient and profession service, Melissa is committed to ensuring that cases progress efficiently in order that landlord’s carry out the necessary repairs to her client’s homes and gain them the compensation they deserve.
Outside of work, Melissa enjoys spending time with family, friends and her cat Reggie. Melissa is also dedicated to raising awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and has been involved in fundraisers including skydiving!
It has been very long battle since we started this claim but now we are so relief that has been finalised and we won the case before even we went to the court.
