Three quick checks

Most claims need all three — worth checking before you fill anything in.

It happened in the last three years

Most claims must be started within three years of the accident.

Someone else was at least partly to blame

A driver, a cyclist or motorcyclist, or a council that let the pavement or road fall into disrepair.

You needed medical attention

From a paramedic, GP, walk-in centre or hospital — at the time or since.

How your claim works

Four stages, from first call to compensation.

  1. Free eligibility check

A specialist talks through what happened and tells you honestly whether you have a claim.

  2. Medical assessment

We arrange an independent medical expert to record your injuries and how they affect you.

  3. Claim pursued

We deal with the driver's insurer, the council or the MIB for you — including lost earnings, care and travel costs.

  4. No win, no fee

You only pay if you win. Our fee is then an agreed percentage of your compensation, capped and set out in writing before you sign — so nothing comes out of your own pocket.

What you can claim for

Any of these, caused by someone else's negligence, could form the basis of a claim.

  • Hit by a car or van
  • Zebra & pelican crossings
  • Reversing & car park accidents
  • Broken pavements & kerbs
  • Lorries, buses & cyclists
  • Hit-and-run & uninsured drivers

Common questions

Will it cost me anything if my claim doesn't succeed?

No. We act under a genuine no win, no fee agreement, which means you don't pay our fees if your claim is unsuccessful.

What if I wasn't using a crossing, or was partly to blame?

You may still be able to claim. Under the Highway Code, drivers must take extra care around people on foot, who sit at the top of the hierarchy of road users. Compensation can be reduced to reflect any share of the blame.

The driver didn't stop, or wasn't insured. What now?

You may still be able to claim through the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB), which compensates people injured by untraced or uninsured drivers. Report it to the police as soon as you can.

I tripped on a broken pavement. Who do I claim against?

Usually the local council responsible for maintaining the pavement. Photos of the defect, with something for scale, and the exact location make a big difference.

How long do I have to make a claim?

Usually three years from the date of the accident. The sooner you start, the easier it is to gather evidence like dashcam or CCTV footage and witness details.

Do the 2021 whiplash reforms affect my claim?

No. Pedestrians are treated as vulnerable road users, so the whiplash tariffs and the Official Injury Claim portal that apply to car occupants don't apply to you.
